Services and procedures ...
Our aim
is to provide dental care in a relaxed and informal environment and our
practice philosophy is based on the prevention of dental disease, which
is a two-way process involving patient care at home together with
regular routine maintenance of your mouth carried out at the surgery.
Within the practice
we are able to offer a whole range of dental treatment from routine basic
maintenance up to complete oral rehabilitation. We carry out a full spectrum
of treatments privately, including the provision of tooth coloured fillings
on back teeth and purely cosmetic treatments.
Treatment on the NHS
is more limited and more complicated treatments are subject to prior
approval by the Dental Practice Board.
We do not carry out any dental procedure
under 'general' anaesthetic but we can offer
(to those patients who really cannot cope with conventional treatment, e.g.
due to phobias, etc.) intravenous sedation on a limited basis. More
complicated treatment is usually referred outside the practice.
When you arrange an appointment
please tell us if you have any special needs and we will do our best to
accommodate these. The surgery is installed with ramp access and wide doors
to ease access for disabled patients in wheelchairs and parents with
children in pushchairs.
For the more severely disabled
or housebound patient we do our best to arrange a home visit, where we can
carry out a limited range of basic treatments (largely aimed at removing
pain or in constructing new dentures.
Dental care
does not just involve the mouth and many systemic diseases can be diagnosed
through signs first seen in the mouth. If we identify any abnormalities we
can arrange for an early referral to your General Practitioner for further
investigation.
